Continuing Professional Development Workshops

Essentials of Corporate Financial Management

Money, or more accurately, finance, makes the corporate world go round.  However, finance is shrouded in mystery and jargon for the average manager.  This workshop takes a “finance for non-financial managers” approach.  In it, you will learn about the financial objectives of organizations and the information they use to measure their success; financial planning and the decisions that impact it; sources of funds for public and private companies; cost of capital and developing the most appropriate capital structure; managing, planning and controlling cash and working capital; capital budgeting; and business mergers, acquisitions and divestitures in both a national and international context.  If you deal with finance professionals and need to know about financial management to do your job more effectively, this session is for you. Regular registration fee includes a copy of Chartered Secretaries Canada’s Corporate Financial Management Study Guide, which highlights relevant sections of the Canadian Corporate Secretaries Guide. IQS Student registrants would have received a copy of the Corporate Financial Management Study Guide upon registration for the IQS course and exam.
