Continuing Professional Development Workshops

Audit Committees

For publicly-traded companies, the Audit Committee is often the most challenging Board assignment.  If you have been appointed to an Audit Committee, you owe it to yourself to understand its role, function, limitations and language – finance.  In this workshop, you will learn about financial reporting and corporate governance; the Board’s role in financial reporting; constitution and obligations of the Audit Committee; managing the auditor; financial reporting, statements and objectives; generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); and financial disclosures, including evaluating management discussion and analysis (MD&A), annual information form (AIF) and relevant disclosure standards.  In the wake of the financial scandals of the late twentieth and early twenty-first centuries, Audit has become an extremely important committee – you need to prepare yourself by taking this workshop.
